reflection

I’m missing him — his
innocence and clumsiness
— his rhythm of thought

In my dream I was attempting to fulfil the role of drummer in a band, and admitting: ‘This is the first time I’ve ever done this’. Hence the word rhythm in the poem, and the idea of innocence and clumsiness. The poem is a reflection partly because it doesn’t describe the dream itself, but goes off on a tangent. Also because although the ‘him’ refers to someone else whom I really am missing in waking life, I’m also interested in ‘him’ as a symbol for ‘me’.
